About White Lace Petticoat

Petticoats are pouffy undergarments worn underneath skirts. They are usually made from layers of stiff lace fabric, crinoline, tulle. Petticoats are skirt-like items that start at the waist and fall to the ankle or with a shorter length. They are worn beneath wide circle skirt to give it a fuller effect and so the skirt doesn't collapse in around the legs of the wearer. Ladies of the court during the 16th and 17th centuries (like Marie Antoinette and American southern belles like Scarlett O'Hara often wore petticoats beneath their gowns, both with formal wear and everyday attire.
