The decade of decadence before the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the resulting Great Depression, the Roaring 20s where populated with flappers, crooners, and all manner of high living, Charleston-dancing characters. In spite of the partying, Prohibition was in full swing with the local speakeasy the only place to get an illegal swig of alcoholic beverage. Famous figures of the '20s included author of The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Charlie Chaplin, and Gloria Swanson.

Dressing as the Roaring 20s

Noted for its flappers, joyously dancing dames who swung their arms to the Charleston and other dance crazes, the Roaring 20s has its most enduring fashion statement. Emulate the women of the '20s with a fringed or sequinned flapper costume and an elegant bob wig. Dot on a fashionable mole on your upper lip and some crimson lipstick and top it off with a cute cloche hat worn by the ladies of the era.

Men can dress up in a striped blazer, straw hat, and a fun, faux fur coat to recreate the stylin' and profilin' look of the men of the '20s.
