About Ladies in Waiting

Long ago when knights were bold, every court had a number of women who were attendents to royalty or even members of the royal court themselves. Known as ladies in waiting, these women would assist nobles ranking higher than themselves with everyday duties. Some famous Ladies-In-Waiting included Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, and Katherine Howard -- all of which served as attendants to the prior queen before their (ex)husband Henry VIII had them beheaded and took a new wife. Talk about a tough job description!

Dressing up as a Lady in Waiting

All the beauty and grandeur of life at the royal court can be yours with a Lady in Waiting costume. Choose from a more traditional renaissance look with a red velvet ensemble with a long, flowing skirt and a detachable veil. Complimenting the look for a regal air are dramatic sleeves done in a leg-of-mutton style with flowing handkerchief sleeves.

Or, opt for a more contemporary take on the role with a sexy gothic version of the lady in waiting attire. Short in the front with a long train, this style features jewel-toned purple satin accented with black PVC and lace.

Add a renaissance wig or style your hair elaborately to reflect your newly found royal status!
