About Goldie Locks

Goldie Locks is a character from the fairy tale story the Three Bears. It was a children’s bed time story created in 1837 by Robert Southey. In the story Goldie Locks happens upon a cottage. She enters the empty cottage trying first the chairs, then the porridge, then the beds upstairs until everything is just right. When the bears come home she is discovered and runs away. There are several versions to the Three Bears story. In a more gruesome tale Goldie Locks does not survive after the bears return home. Most of course enjoy the happy ending. Charles Dickens even had a version of the Goldie Locks tale.

Dressing up as Goldie Locks

Goldie Locks is technically a young woman. Your outfit will need to be a dress that reaches the mid thigh. Normally the Goldie Locks costume has a slip underneath the dress to give it that puffed out look. To complete the outfit white tights with Mary Jane shoes should accompany the dress. The dress will have a corset top with little apron on the skirt portion. A Dirndl works great for a Goldie Locks costume, so see Oktoberfest for ideas. Goldie Locks has shoulder length or just beyond, blonde hair. The hair is in ringlets hanging down to the shoulders with a hair tie in the back, such as a ribbon and bow. To complete the costume you will need a little basket.
