About Flight Attendant
Though we typically think of flight attendants as only on airplanes the actual job position started as stewards on ships and passenger trains. The first flight attendant was a man on the German Zeppelin in 1911. From 1911 more and more individuals were beginning to work in the air as flight attendants all over the world. The beginning of more flight attendants began in the 1920’s with Imperial Airways, Western Airlines, and Pan AM. The first female flight attendant was a registered nurse, Ellen Church who was hired by United Airlines in 1930. Up until this women there were only men serving on the flights. It is surprising that after the Ellen Church most of the flight attendants became women and men largely left the posts.
