About Egyptian

Egyptians are an ethnic group that existed before BC. The Egyptian culture built the pyramids you would see today if you visit Egypt. They were an intelligent group that has survived until now. In fact any one born in Egypt today would still be considered an Egyptian. The Egyptians had a specific religion in which they believed in the Sun God, and other Gods. Cats were very important to the culture. Their culture also believed heavily in curses. The leaders of the Egyptians were called Pharaoh’s. Egyptians believed in life after death, this is why they would mummify their dead to preserve their bodies.

Dressing up as Egyptian

The Egyptian culture had queens, princesses, and Pharaoh’s or Kings. Living in the hot arid community of Africa they needed to have clothing that would be cool during the hot days. Cleopatra is a great costume for any women or young girl. She was one of the most notable women in the Egyptian society as is Queen Nefertiti. With their costumes you can have either an ankle length dress or mid thigh. It is a simplistic style often using a decorated cord to wrap around the body. To top it off there is usually a shawl for moderate coverage. The shoes where sandals during that time period so anything made out of leather would be considered period. Often the men and women had beaded headdresses or gold tiaras in the shape of animals. The Pharaoh costume for men and younger men is a simple robe, with a belt, and gold collar. The robe is designed to be ankle length. The Pharaohs often had headdresses as well as staffs that would signify their power. There are several accessories you can use to accompany your costume such as the Egyptian Dagger, Axe, and wristbands.
