About Chef

A chef is a professional cook who works in restaurants. There have been several characters on television as well as cartoons patterned after chefs. Perhaps the most famous is Chef from South Park. A person becomes a chef after two years of culinary school. You can also go for four years to earn a bachelor’s degree in hospitality. There are several types of chefs in the kitchen. You have the executive chef who is in charge of the kitchen. Then you have Sous chefs, the Chef de Partie or line cook, and the Commis. The Commis are newly trained chefs still working as assistants or undergoing training at the moment.

Dressing up as Chef

A Chef has a very distinct costume in the kitchen or for Halloween. The chef costumes can be found in child sizes up to adults. They can also be several different varieties from gruesome chefs to Chef Pigs. The chef costume is going to have gray pants, a white coat that buttons down the front and a chef hat with apron. The chef hat is normally tall and made of paper, but it can also be cloth with a rounded look such as a bakery chef cap. The apron of course helps protect the rest of the uniform from spills. South Park is another area to get a Chef costume with the character Chef.
