About Abe Lincoln

Born on February 12, 1809, Abraham Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States in 1861 during a period where the country was torn apart by Civil Strife. One of the greatest presidents in U.S. history, "Honest Abe" re-united the North and South following the Civil War, as well as abolishing slavery. He was assassinated in 1865 by Confederate actor, John Wilkes Booth early on in his second term in office. Although he is gone, Lincoln's legacy lives on. His face can be seen in a monument to him, the Lincoln Memorial and as one of the faces of four U.S. Presidents who grace Mt. Rushmore.

Dressing as Abe Lincoln

With such a distinctive look, dressing the part of Abraham Lincoln is quite easy. Several Abraham Lincoln costumes are available to fit both children and adults. Some are as simple as a tall, stovepipe hat with mutton-chop sideburns, while others are more complete costumes including those accessories, as well as a full-suit of Lincoln's day that he often wore.
